Ross Homel

Professor Ross Homel AO is Foundation Professor of Criminology and Criminal Justice at Griffith University.

He is a leader within his discipline and within the University, and a passionate advocate around the world for policies and practices that are based on firm scientific evidence and that improve individual and community wellbeing.

He has a national and international reputation particularly in crime and violence prevention, evidenced by numerous awards, honours and collaborations.

Ross’ career focus is the theoretical analysis of crime and associated problems such as violence, child abuse, injury, substance abuse and corruption – and the prevention of these problems through the scientific method to problem analysis and the development, implementation and evaluation of interventions.

Kate Freiberg

Dr Kate Freiberg is a Principal Research Fellow at Griffith University.

Kate’s work draws together developmental psychology and prevention science. She maintains a strong focus on the development of accessible resources and measurement tools to support frontline professionals, child serving organisations, and policy makers who strive to achieve better outcomes for children and families.

Kate’s career has offered her many rewarding opportunities to work alongside practitioners and managers from many disciplines and organisations. It has included periods of intensive partnership with community agencies and schools to support program development and good practice around measurement and data collection. Her collaborative work with community partners serves to deepen her understanding of the challenges and rich rewards of applying research to practice settings.
